The eighth meeting of the China-Singapore Supreme Courts Joint Working Group was held via video link on Aug 24. Gao Xiaoli, vice-president of the Supreme People’s Court (SPC) of China, as well as Justice See Kee Oon and Justice Steven Chong Horng Siong of the Supreme Court of Singapore, attended the meeting.

Gao noted that, since the ninth China-Singapore Legal and Judicial Roundtable was held in November last year, judicial cooperation between the two countries has maintained sound momentum under the strategic guidance of the chief justices of both countries and through the joint efforts of the working group.

She expressed the hope that both sides would leverage the joint working group meeting to make thorough preparations for the 10th China-Singapore Legal and Judicial Roundtable and further advance practical judicial cooperation.

Justice See said that he looked forward to the supreme courts of the two countries further deepening cooperation and achieving more fruitful results.

During the meeting, the two sides held in-depth exchanges on the application of artificial intelligence in judicial services, judicial protection of minors and judicial practice in cross-border insolvency, among other topics. Officials from relevant SPC departments also attended the meeting.
