Zhang extended a warm welcome to Ozkaya and his delegation, noting that this year marks the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Turkiye.
The leaders of the two countries met in North China’s Tianjin last August and reached important consensus on elevating the Sino-Turkish strategic cooperative relationship to a new level, according to Zhang.
The two leaders called on both countries to follow the prevailing trend of peace, development, cooperation and mutual benefit, and support each other in pursuing national prosperity, Zhang said.
Noting that the two nations have maintained close judicial exchanges and cooperation, Zhang expressed confidence that this visit would further strengthen friendship between their judicial institutions and contribute judicial strength to advancing bilateral relations.
Zhang briefed the delegation on China’s progress in advancing the development of the rule of law and the work of Chinese courts, with a particular focus on the development of digital courts, a subject of interest to the Turkish delegation.
Faced with heavy caseloads, limited judicial resources and growing challenges in effectively resolving disputes, Chinese courts have strengthened efforts to prevent disputes at the source and through diversified dispute resolution mechanisms while improving the quality and efficiency of adjudication through better management and wider application of information technology, Zhang said.
He called on both parties to use the meeting as an opportunity to implement the consensus reached between the leaders of the two countries, and expand exchanges and practical cooperation between their judicial institutions.
These moves would further enrich the Sino-Turkish strategic cooperative relationship and enable their judiciaries to make a greater contribution to regional and global peace and stability, he added.
Ozkaya thanked Zhang for the meeting, describing the discussions as candid, friendly, practical and productive. He said the meeting had deepened mutual understanding and strengthened their friendship.
Furthermore, he expressed the hope that the two sides would enhance collaboration, share experience in areas such as digital court development and diversified dispute resolution, and pursue more practical cooperation between their judicial institutions for the benefit of both peoples.
Prior to the meeting, Ozkaya and his delegation visited the SPC’s digital court laboratory.
Shen Liang, vice-president of the SPC; Irfan Fidan, vice-president of Turkiye's Constitutional Court; Selcuk Unal, Turkish ambassador to China; and officials from the SPC, Turkiye's Constitutional Court and the Turkish embassy in China attended the meeting.
