The China-SCO Forum of Judges of Regional Courts was held in Shanghai on June 30. Shen Liang, vice-president of the Supreme People’s Court of China, attended the forum and delivered remarks.
Shen said that 2026 marks the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the meeting mechanism for presidents of the supreme courts of SCO member states. Over the past two decades, the top courts of SCO member states have continuously strengthened judicial exchanges and cooperation, yielding fruitful achievements in areas such as jointly combating transnational crimes, resolving cross-border trade disputes through consultation, and enhancing judicial assistance, according to Shen.
He noted that the world is currently entering a new period of turbulence and transformation, with global governance facing new challenges and choices. Chinese courts stand ready to work with the courts of other SCO member states to continue carrying forward the Shanghai Spirit, deepen practical cooperation, and promote mutual benefit and win-win outcomes, Shen said. Together, they will contribute greater judicial wisdom and strength to building a community with a shared future for humanity and advancing global peace and prosperity, he added.
The forum was jointly hosted by the Shanghai High People’s Court and Shanghai University of Political Science and Law, where the training base of the China-SCO international judicial exchange and cooperation program is based. More than 100 representatives from China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and the Secretariat of the SCO attended the forum.
Also attending the forum were Jia Yu, president of the Shanghai High People’s Court; Zheng Qing, president of the Zhejiang High People’s Court; Mao Ronghua, president of the Guizhou High People’s Court; and Dilxat Sayim, president of the High People’s Court of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
