Yang Linping, vice-president of the Supreme People's Court (SPC) of China, met with Luc Lavrysen, emeritus president of the Constitutional Court of Belgium, in Beijing on June 8.
Yang said that China has maintained long-standing and fruitful exchanges and cooperation with Belgium and the European Union in the field of environmental justice.
She noted that the two sides have achieved a series of practical outcomes in such areas as judicial training and case studies.
China’s SPC is willing to further deepen exchanges and cooperation with its Belgian counterparts in environmental rule of law and green development, Yang said, adding that these efforts would contribute to global environmental governance.
Lavrysen lauded China's great achievements in environmental adjudication and judicial protection of the environment.
He expressed the hope of continuing to learn from China's experience in environmental justice and protection — further expanding cooperation and exchanges in related fields.
Both parties also exchanged views on establishing a multi-level China-Europe mechanism for exchanges and mutual visits in the field of environmental justice, as well as strengthening information sharing and professional training.
Officials from relevant departments of the SPC attended the meeting.
