The Supreme People’s Court (SPC) has decided to designate 100 dispatched people’s tribunals, including the Yayuncun Dispatched People’s Tribunal of the Chaoyang People’s Court in Beijing, as the first batch of “Fengqiao-style people’s tribunals” in the country.
The decision was made following a nationwide model-building campaign, tiered recommendation, assessment, and public consultation, with the aim of establishing model tribunals for promoting and developing the “Fengqiao experience” in the new era, further stimulating institutional vitality, and advancing the overall development of people’s tribunals nationwide.
The SPC noted that since the launch of the model-building campaign in November 2023, courts at all levels have adhered to the principle of serving the overall interests and administering justice for the people, and encouraged people’s tribunals nationwide to actively participate. Comprehensive mechanisms for the diversified prevention, mediation, and resolution of social disputes and conflicts have continued to improve, contributing to the development of a peaceful China under the rule of law.
According to the SPC, the designated tribunals are expected to build on their achievements, and further summarize and share effective practices so as to better demonstrate and promote exemplary experience nationwide. People’s tribunals across the country are encouraged to learn from these model tribunals, fully implement the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and plenary sessions of the 20th CPC Central Committee, further study and implement the guiding principles of the central conference on work related to overall law-based governance, strive to serve as pioneers in upholding and developing the “Fengqiao experience” in the new era, and strengthen the last line of defense for safeguarding social fairness and justice.
The SPC also called on courts at all levels to further implement the CPC Central Committee’s opinions on strengthening adjudication work in the new era, and to fully perform their judicial functions in punishing crime, protecting the people, resolving disputes, and upholding fairness and justice.
Efforts should also be made to advance the campaign of building “Fengqiao-style people’s tribunals” and improve their work quality and efficiency in the new era, so as to provide strong judicial services and guarantees for high-quality economic and social development during the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30) period and for advancing Chinese modernization.
