At the invitation of the Court of Cassation of Turkiye, Shen Liang, vice-president of the Supreme People’s Court (SPC) of China, led a delegation on a visit to Turkiye from May 12 to 15.
During the visit, Shen held working meetings with Kadir Ozkaya, president of the Constitutional Court of Turkiye; Omer Kerkez, president of the Court of Cassation of Turkiye; and Muhsin Senturk, chief public prosecutor of the Court of Cassation.
Shen briefed the Turkish side on the achievements in advancing the development of the rule of law under socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era, as well as China’s experience in promoting rapid economic growth and long-term social stability through the rule of law and effective governance.
The two sides exchanged views on the judicial systems and court organizational structures of the two countries, court operations, the application of artificial intelligence in the judiciary, traditional legal culture, and other topics of mutual interest. Both sides expressed the hope to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation between the courts of the two countries.
The delegation also held professional exchanges with Hazar Turan Alim, president of the Istanbul Regional Court of Appeal; Metin Sarihan, chief public prosecutor of the Istanbul Regional Court of Appeal; Mesut Bilen, president of the Istanbul Anatolian Courthouse; and Mehmet Besir Guven, chief public prosecutor of the Istanbul Anatolian Courthouse.
Officials from the SPC as well as the high people’s courts of Shandong and Fujian provinces joined the visit. Jiang Xuebin, Chinese ambassador to Turkiye, attended relevant activities.
