The opening ceremony of the China-Latin America and Caribbean Region Legal Professionals Exchange Program was held at the National Judges College on May 20. Sun Zhenping, head of the Political Department of the Supreme People's Court (SPC) of China, attended the ceremony and delivered remarks.
Sun expressed his good wishes for the success of the program. In May last year, China unveiled five programs for cooperation between China and Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) countries aims to build a China-LAC community with a shared future, he noted, adding that cooperation between China and LAC countries have achieved positive progress across various fields and delivered tangible benefits to their peoples.
Sun emphasized that China’s SPC attaches great importance to judicial and legal exchanges and cooperation with LAC countries. He said the SPC hopes to take the training program as an opportunity to further strengthen mutual learning, deepen regional judicial exchanges, and contribute judicial wisdom to the sustained and sound development of China-LAC relations through practical cooperation.
Representatives of participants from Colombia and Honduras delivered remarks at the ceremony. Twenty judicial officials from LAC countries, along with officials of the National Judges College, attended the event.
