On April 29, Deng Xiuming, executive vice-president of the Supreme People’s Court (SPC) of China, met with a delegation headed by the Cuban ambassador to China, Alberto Blanco Silva, in Beijing.
Blanco Silva conveyed a letter from Oscar Manuel Silvera Martínez, newly appointed president of the Supreme People’s Court of Cuba, to Zhang Jun, president of China’s SPC. In the letter, Martínez noted that the friendly exchanges between the two sides reflect a shared commitment to further strengthening judicial cooperation and deepening the close friendship between the two countries. He expressed willingness to continue promoting dialogue between the judicial authorities of the two countries for the benefit of both nations and the advancement of the rule of law.
Deng extended a warm welcome to Blanco Silva and expressed congratulations to Martínez on his appointment. He said that China and Cuba are good friends, good comrades, and good brothers. In recent years, under the strategic guidance of the two countries’ leaders, China-Cuba relations have maintained a high level of development, Deng noted, adding that exchanges and cooperation in the judicial field have been close, with frequent high-level visits and fruitful outcomes.
Deng also briefed the Cuban side on China’s progress in the rule of law and the work of Chinese courts, noting that Chinese courts stand ready to deepen exchanges and cooperation with their Cuban counterparts across various fields, so as to further consolidate and advance bilateral friendship and contribute to building a closer China-Cuba community with a shared future.
Blanco Silva expressed appreciation for China’s long-standing support and stated that the Cuban embassy in China stands ready to play an active role in promoting practical cooperation between the two countries’ courts.
Officials from relevant departments of the SPC of China also attended the meeting.
