The 18th session of the Standing Committee of 14th National People’s Congress (NPC) will be convened in Beijing from Oct 24 to 28.

At a press conference held on Oct 23, Wang Xiang, spokesperson for the Legislative Affairs Commission of the NPC Standing Committee, briefed the media on the major draft laws to be submitted for deliberation at the upcoming session and answered questions from journalists.

According to the briefing, the report on the work of maritime adjudication by courts will be submitted by the Supreme People’s Court (SPC) for review at the session.

To prepare for the report, the SPC held a symposium on Sept 19 to inform NPC deputies and members of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference about the handling of their opinions and suggestions related to maritime adjudication. The SPC also solicited their opinions and suggestions, as well as those of relevant departments and organizations on the draft report and maritime adjudication.
