The Meeting of Presidents of Supreme Courts of China and Central Asian Countries closed on the afternoon of Sept 24 in Urumqi, capital of Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, adopting a statement.

The statement highlighted that consolidating and enhancing judicial exchanges and cooperation between China and Central Asian countries will help promote their development and prosperity, boost mutual trust and good-neighborly friendship among them, and drive the building of a closer China-Central Asia community with a shared future. 

The statement outlined consensus reached by China and the Central Asian nations on a series of topics including improving the diversified resolution mechanism for international commercial disputes, strengthening international judicial cooperation in criminal matters in terms of combating terrorism, drug trafficking, corruption and cybercrime, promoting international exchanges and judicial cooperation in the environmental protection field, utilizing information technology to enhance judicial capabilities, and expanding judicial exchanges platforms.

Zhang Jun, president of the Supreme People's Court of China, delivered a speech at the closing ceremony.

Zhang said the meeting signified the opening of a new chapter in judicial exchanges and cooperation between China and Central Asian countries.

This meeting brought the participating countries together, fully demonstrating a common pursuit of peace, development, cooperation and mutual benefit, he said. 

All parties held candid and fruitful discussions on the topics of expanding judicial cooperation, jointly addressing challenges, resolving disputes and cracking down crimes, making significant contributions to the common prosperity of the region and the building of a closer China-Central Asia community with a shared future, he added.

Zhang said China is willing to work together with all parties to jointly address judicial challenges, enhance the quality and efficiency of judicial adjudication in a bid to benefit the people of all countries.
