SPC urges judiciary to study and implement guiding principles of CPC plenum

Zhang Jun, president of the Supreme People’s Court (SPC), has urged members of the judiciary to comprehensively study and concretely implement the guiding principles of the third plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC). He also urged them to support Chinese modernization drive by modernizing the adjudication work.
Zhang made the remarks at a meeting organized by the SPC for judicial officers on July 22.
During the meeting, Zhang outlined specific requirements for studying and implementing the guiding principles of the key Party meeting, which ran from July 15 to 18, highlighting the importance of upholding the absolute leadership of the CPC in further comprehensively deepening reform and advancing Chinese modernization.
He underlined the need to fully leverage the political advantages of the Party's leadership to strengthen coordination in all aspects of rule of law development with a systemic approach, promote the transformation of the advantages of the country's socialist judicial system into fair and efficient adjudication, and enhance the effectiveness of national and social governance.
While highlighting the need to deepen theoretical innovation, Zhang called for the building of unity between reform and the rule of law with concrete measures. He said that upholding the rule of law is a fundamental principle for further deepening reform.
He urged a comprehensive understanding of the key plans outlined in the resolution of the third plenary session, and the implementation of concrete measures to enhance the role of the rule of law in ensuring fair and efficient judicial processes.
Zhang also stressed the importance of implementing and refining a just judicial system and mechanisms, and urged people’s courts across the country to carry out their work in the second half of the year following the principle of “justice and efficiency”.
The conference was presided over by Deng Xiuming, vice-president of the SPC, who conveyed the guiding principles of the third plenary session at the meeting. Members of the SPC leadership attended the meeting, along with judicial officers from different departments and courts.
