The 7th China-Singapore Legal and Judicial Roundtable closed on Nov 28. Chief Justice and President of the Supreme People's Court (SPC) of China Zhang Jun and Singapore's Chief Justice Sundaresh Menon attended and addressed the closing ceremony.

On behalf of China's SPC, Zhang extended his warm congratulations on the success of the event. He pointed out that this roundtable is an important meeting against the backdrop of the bilateral relations of the two countries being elevated to an all-round high-quality future-oriented partnership, and of the Belt and Road cooperation entering a new phase. As he said, the meeting enhanced mutual learning and yielded broad consensus on various topics, setting a good example of judicial exchanges and cooperation between judicial organs in different countries.

The two sides held in-depth discussions on topics closely related to the development of the times and of common interest, which is conducive to improving judicial efficiency in future work, he noted. Based on thorough communication, the two sides achieved better planning on the focus and direction of judicial cooperation in the next stage, he said, adding that he looks forward to working with the Singaporean side to jointly implement the consensus reached between the two heads of state, promote further development of the roundtable mechanism, and write new chapters in judicial cooperation between the two countries.

Menon expressed his appreciation to China's SPC for the detailed arrangement of the event, which is another successful result of communication between the judicial organs of the two countries. He suggested solidifying existing channels of cooperation, improving new cooperative mechanisms, and expanding dialogues between courts in both countries, in order to achieve better judicial cooperation between the two sides.
