The third China-Singapore case study forum on international commercial adjudication was held at the National Judges College (NJC) of China on Nov 17. Liu Guixiang, standing member of China's Supreme People's Court (SPC)'s adjudication committee (vice-minister level), delivered opening and closing remarks at the event.

In his remarks, Liu reviewed the judicial exchanges and cooperation between the two countries and introduced the latest progress made by the SPC in foreign-related commercial and maritime adjudication work. He said that the case studies at the forum reflected the consistency in such judicial concepts as fairness and determination of judgments and orders between the judges of the two countries, which is conducive to better understanding each other's legal systems and procedures, and lays a cornerstone for closer cooperation in the future.

The forum was jointly hosted by China's NJC, the Case Research Institute of China's SPC, and the Singapore Academy of Law. Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Singapore Sundaresh Menon and Justice Steven Chong Horng Siong attended the opening ceremony. Participants, including senior judges and legal scholars from both countries, held in-depth exchanges on the principles of contract law and cases related to tort liability.
