At the meeting, Kou Fang, president of Beijing High People's Court, president of the Haidian court Shao Mingyan, and representatives of court staff talked about their work.

They also shared their understanding and suggestions on implementing the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), as well as the key speeches at and guiding principles of this year's two sessions.

Zhang acknowledged the two courts' achievements and called on them to share their experience and innovative practice with courts nationwide.

He urged them to strengthen the CPC leadership  on courts' work and stressed the importance of Party building at courts.

He emphasized the people-oriented principle across all links and throughout the whole process of trials, so as to protect the legitimate rights and interests of the parties involved in accordance with the law.

The appraisal mechanism plays an important role in judge team building, Zhang noted, saying that a more scientific and rational trial quality and efficiency indicator system should be designed, where the appraisal results will be fully leveraged to better motivate judicial personnel.

The judges' political integrity, professional competence and work ethics should be further improved to better serve the high-quality growth of the economy and society, Zhang added.
