Zhou Qiang, president of the Supreme People's Court (SPC), on Feb 1 stressed providing strong judicial support for building Central China's Henan province into a splendid socialist land with Chinese characteristics during his visit to the region.

After visiting the judges and inspecting the litigation service and work related to judgment execution of the Fourth Circuit Court of the SPC, Zhou spoke highly of circuit courts in promoting judicial reform and improving the socialist legal system with Chinese characteristics. 

In the provincial capital city of Zhengzhou, Zhou learned about the joint efforts made by the Nancao People's Tribunal, local police stations and the judicial service center to settle disputes at the source. 

Zhou praised the tribunal's innovative practices and called for more practical and effective attempts to better serve the people, support grassroots governance, and safeguard social stability. 

When he visited the people's court in Zhongyuan district, Zhou appreciated its coordination mechanism between government and the court, which solves administrative disputes and effectively safeguards people's legitimate rights and interests. He urged the court to further improve the mechanism and meet various judicial needs of the public. 

After hearing a report of the province's high people's court at a symposium, Zhou acknowledged the achievements made by the courts in Henan and urged them to provide high-quality judicial service and modernize their judicial system and capabilities. 

He also called for strong judicial support for the protection of property rights and intellectual property rights, and for the improvement of the business environment, and stressed promoting the Fengqiao model in promoting social harmony in the new era. 

In addition, Zhou reiterated adhering to the people-oriented principle, deepening judicial reforms, and building smart courts and teams.
