The 2022 China-SCO judges forum closed on the evening of Aug 31. Yang Wanming, vice-president of the Supreme People's Court (SPC) of China, attended and addressed the closing ceremony.

On behalf of China's SPC, Yang extended his congratulations on the success of the forum, saying that the attending parties had exchanged ideas and reached extensive consensuses on topics, such as the building of a case classification and distribution mechanism, evidence verification rules for criminal cases, and new trends and cooperation on intellectual property right protection in cyberspace.

The forum will elevate the cooperation among local courts in Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states to a new level, and will better serve the economic and trade cooperation of the region with high-quality and efficient judicial services, he said.

He proposed to strengthen judicial assistance in international civil and commercial cases for a law-based business environment, reinforce IPR judicial protection for an innovation-driven development, and accelerate the reform of the litigation system for higher trial efficiency. He further pledged that China will fully tap the bonding role of the China-SCO judges exchange center to promote pragmatic cooperation among courts in member states, and contribute to the building of a closer SCO community with a shared future.

Presidents and justices of provincial-level courts in Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan attended the forum online.
