The Supreme People's Court (SPC) released 10 typical cases in the criminal, administrative and civil categories concerning drug safety on April 28 in order to maintain the order of drug administration and safeguard public health.

From 2013 to 2021, courts across the nation heard and concluded over 27,000 first instance drug-related criminal cases and gave sentences to over 36,000 offenders. A large number of violators who were involved in acts of endangering drug safety had been convicted and punished for crimes such as producing and selling fake and shoddy products. Many administrative and civil cases related to fake and substandard drugs were also concluded, which effectively maintained the order of drug administration.

Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the SPC has issued several judicial interpretations or guideline documents concerning drug safety in coping with new challenges in the new era. Meanwhile, work has been done with joint efforts from related departments to improve the working mechanism connecting administrative law enforcement with judicature and foster strong synergy in providing the legal guarantee for drug safety.
