Zhou Qiang, China's chief justice and president of the Supreme People's Court (SPC), held talks with Nguyen Hoa Binh, chief justice of the Supreme People’s Court of Vietnam, via video link on Dec 27.

Zhou said the two socialist neighbors have consolidated their traditional friendship, deepened their strategic trust and steadily developed their bilateral relations. The top courts of the two countries have conscientiously implemented the consensus reached by the two heads of state, and their judicial exchanges and cooperation have achieved fruitful results.

Zhou briefly introduced China's progress in rule of law and judicial reform, the development of smart courts, and the efforts made to explore online judicial service model and speed up modernization of its adjudication system and capability.

China's top court is willing to promote cooperation on judge training and case study with the top court of Vietnam and further contribute to new achievements in bilateral relations, and to provide fine judicial services for high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and building of a community with a shared future for mankind, according to Zhou.

Nguyen Hoa Binh said the top court of Vietnam would further strengthen mutual exchanges with China's top court in order to advance the two countries' practical judicial cooperation to a new level.

He also shared the practice and experience of Vietnamese courts in rule of law and judicial reform and offered suggestions on improving bilateral judicial exchangees through experience sharing and forums.

China is Vietnam's important partner and the top court of Vietnam will make new contributions to the long-term development of both sides through joint efforts with China's SPC, he added.

Yang Wanming, vice-president of the SPC, also attended the meeting.
