The daily amount of State compensation for people whose freedoms are infringed will increase, China's top court and top procuratorate said on Thursday.

Two circulars released by the Supreme People's Court and the Supreme People's Procuratorate unveiled a new State compensation standard — 373.10 yuan ($58) per day for people whose personal freedoms were violated, slightly higher than last year's 346.75 yuan.

Under the Chinese State Compensation Law, such people, including those who have been wrongfully detained by police or wrongfully convicted by courts, have the right to apply for the payment.

The compensation standard covering personal freedom damages was made in line with the average daily salary of the country's urban employees last year.

The SPC and SPP have required all judges and prosecutors nationwide to implement the new standard when handling State compensation cases, the circulars added.
