BEIJING -- The Supreme People's Court (SPC) on Thursday released a new judicial interpretation of China's revised Criminal Procedure Law to apply it accurately and effectively.

Apart from specifying the fast-track sentencing procedure, the new interpretation elaborates on procedures for default judgment and the hearing of cases in which the defendants plead guilty, according to the SPC.

The Standing Committee of the National People's Congress passed the revised Criminal Procedure Law in October 2018, the third revision after the law was promulgated in 1979.
