With the implementation of the five-year judicial reform having reached a critical juncture, the Supreme People's Court (SPC) recently laid out the key tasks to be accomplished before the end of 2020.

The document puts forward 38 measures aimed at improving the people-centric judicial system, the trial power operation system centered on judicial accountability, courts’ organizational and functional structures, the litigation system, the personnel management system as well as the application of its smart court system.

According to the document, the key tasks for this year echo the demand of the CPC Central Committee for deepening the judicial reform and reflect the latest progress in the ongoing reform with great emphasis on practicality.

The SPC also issued a corresponding work division plan which breaks down the tasks and specifies the responsibility of each unit involved.
