SPC conducts mediation through online program
The Fifth Circuit Court of the Supreme People's Court drew on its online program "mobile micro court" on Feb 28 to mediate the disputes during the retrial of a case between two companies in Southwest China's Guizhou province.
After analyzing various factors about the case including its background and disputes as well as the previous cooperation between the two parties, the circuit court found that mediation would be appropriate.
Considering that the agents of both parties were both elderly people without legal training, the court meticulously taught them how to use the online program and sent them all the court documents via the program prior to the retrial.
The court also convened an online meeting of the two parties the day before the retrial to thoroughly analyze their disputes, laying a sound basis for the retrial.
Convinced by the court's relentless effort to elaborate on the pros and cons of the case during the retrial, the two parties agreed upon the preliminary mediation plan brought up by the court and in the end signed the mediation agreement via the program.
