Special court provides all-round judicial support for CIIE
Designed to provide across-the-board judicial support for the China International Import Expo (CIIE), the West Hongqiao (CIIE) People's Tribunal embarked on a new journey as the second CIIE opened in Shanghai on Nov 6.
Located just 20 meters away from the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai), the second CIIE's venue, the tribunal has established a one-stop litigation service center with such functions as case filing, consultation and pre-hearing mediation, according to Wu Xiaoguo, the tribunal's head.
"Once a case is identified as related to the CIIE, we will promptly turn on the ‘green channel’ to register, mediate and conclude it as soon as possible,” he said.
As a matter of fact, the tribunal received more than 300 guests from both domestic and foreign organizations during the first CIIE lasting from Nov 5 to Nov 10 last year.
In addition, with the help of modern technologies, the tribunal has already realized such digital services as self-service and online case filing, computer-based random case dispatching and live streaming of hearings, according to Wu.
The tribunal has also committed to a diversified dispute settlement mode by joining hands with various commercial mediation organizations, according to Wang Xiancheng, vice president of Shanghai Qingpu District People's Court, to which the tribunal is affiliated.
So far, the tribunal has concluded 403 cases, with 72 percent of the CIIE-related ending up with the withdrawal of the lawsuits after mediation. "Since the founding of the tribunal, no CIIE- or exhibition industry-related case was sent back or had its result changed by the court of second instance," said Wang.
