The first session of the China-Singapore supreme courts' joint working group opened at China's top court in Beijing on May 8.

Yang Wanming, vice-president of the Supreme People's Court of China and leader of the Chinese side of the working group, hosted the session.

The joint working group is a critical mechanism to implement achievements made during state visits between the leaders of the two countries, said Yang.

During the session the top courts reached many consensuses on issues of common interest and the plan of the coming third China-Singapore Legal and Judicial Roundtable after in-depth exchanges, according to Yang.

Yang noted that China's SPC is willing to further cooperate and exchange with its Singaporean counterpart and contribute to the Belt and Road Initiative and a community of shared destiny for mankind.

Steven Chong Horng Siong, the working group's leader and justice of Supreme Court of Singapore, said the success of the session reflects the friendship between the two courts and that he hopes to deepen cooperation and exchanges under the Belt and Road Initiative to further develop the two sides' judicial work.
