Top court to continue focusing on judicial efficiency and quality
The Supreme People's Court (SPC) must improve efficiency and quality of trials and let the people feel justice in each judicial case, SPC President Zhou Qiang stressed at this year's first session of the SPC's leading group of judicial reform on Jan 29.
At the meeting, Zhou affirmed the judicial achievement of the SPC in 2018 and outlined tasks for 2019.
According to Zhou, the SPC must continue to focus on deepening judicial reform and implementing judicial accountability in an all-round way.
Improving quality, efficiency and credibility through optimizing the supervision mechanism to ensure correct jurisdiction was also a key part of 2019's judicial work.
Zhou said that the SPC must make more efforts to promote alternative dispute resolution (ADR) to resolve the root causes of disputes efficiently and in a timely manner.
Meanwhile, promoting the construction of litigation service centers, accelerating cross-regional litigation service reform, adopting the split-flow model which diverts complicated and simple cases into different channels and improving online litigation service are important missions to give the people a stronger sense of fulfillment.
Also present at the meeting were other SPC leaders including Li Shaoping, Zhang Shuyuan and Ma Shizhong, as well as members of the SPC's judicial reform leading group.
