BEIJING - Chinese courts will increase efforts to ensure better judicial protection of property rights, according to a meeting of the country's high court presidents.

"The courts are committed to treating all market entities as equals, granting them equal protection, and properly handling all sorts of cases concerning property rights," said a statement issued after Thursday's meeting.

The courts will improve the system to detect and correct judicial errors in cases involving companies and provide state compensation in miscarriage of justice cases concerning property rights, according to the meeting.

"It should be avoided for inappropriate court actions to affect business operations or harm legitimate interests of enterprises ... Entrepreneurs shall be allowed to do their business at ease," said the statement.

The court presidents also pledged to better deal with cases of high financial risks, graft in poverty alleviation, and environmental crimes.
