Gansu province launches IP court to inspire innovation
The Lanzhou Intellectual Property Court was launched on Jan 4 in Gansu province to provide judicial guarantee to innovation and entrepreneurship.
At the launching ceremony, Li Rongcan, member of the Standing Committee of Gansu Provincial Party Committee, pointed out that the Lanzhou government supports the construction of a professional, innovative and modern IP court to fulfill the national intellectual property strategy.
Meanwhile, the IP court would improve the judicial system to better protect intellectual property and set up models for similar trials, Li said.
Hu Zhuo, secretary of the Political and Legal Affairs Commission of Gansu Province, urged that the IP court must maintain judicial fairness and make efforts to improve credibility in the judiciary.
He stressed that the IP court must absorb new judicial situations and concerns about new problems to fairly protect all types of market players and establish a special IP trial mode to deal with local cases efficiently.
Building a team of professional judges was also mentioned by Hu at the ceremony.
Also present at the ceremony were Zhang Shuyuan, vice-president of the Supreme People’s Court; Zhang Shizhen, vice-governor of Gansu province; Li Zhixun, secretary-general of Gansu provincial governmentand Zhang Haibo, president of the Higher People’s Court of Gansu Province.
