Creating a safe and stable environment for judges to perform their duties in accordance with law was stressed at a seminar on protecting judges' rights and interests at the Supreme People's Court (SPC) on Dec 21.

Ma Shizhong, member of the Leading Party Members' Group of the SPC, attended the meeting and said that in recent years courts at various levels in China have protected judges' rights and provided a safe working environment for all judicial personnel under the guidelines and regulations related to legal protection of judges who perform their duties in accordance with law.

Ma required that courts should strengthen communication with public security departments to establish a long-term mechanism on protecting judges' rights and interests, meanwhile,increase publicity to raise people's awareness of the need to respect the law and judges.
