Special supervisors play an important role in improving courts' judicial work, Liu Guixiang, full time member of the judicial committee of the Supreme People’s Court (SPC), said at an exchange meeting in Chongqing on Dec 18.
At the meeting, Liu Guixiang, on behalf of the SPC President Zhou Qiang, made a report on the SPC's work in 2018 and staffs at the Fifth Circuit Court outlined the court’s judicial work for this year.
Liu also stressed that courts at various levels in China including the special supervisors must accept supervision of people from all walks of life, administer justice for the people and maintain judicial fairness to let the people feel fairness and justice in each judicial case.
Special supervisors attending the meeting affirmed the work of the courts they inspected and gave more than 30 suggestions to resolve the problem of difficult enforcement, the construction of circuit courts, job security of judges and establishment of courts in western areas.
Special supervisors are selected from deputies to the National People's Congress, members of the national committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), democratic parties members, federations of industry and commerce representatives, independents, scholars and experts and grassroots communities by the SPC to supervise the SPC's trials and enforcement and give suggestions and advice.
Liu pointed out that special supervisors' inspections and suggestion have promoted the development of the courts and said he hoped they will continue with their supervision and contribute to judicial work in the new era.
