The advisory committee shall plays a role in improving China's judicial system, according to the 35th session of the Supreme People's Court's (SPC) Advisory Committee held in Xichang, Sichuan province on Dec 12.
At the meeting, Zhou Qiang, chief justice and president of the SPC, said the SPC's Leading Party Members' Group highly values the work of the advisory committee which is a decision-making advisory body at the SPC and the think tank for the SPC in its formulation of judicial regulations and interpretations. It offers guidelines for local courts.
According to Zhou, the committee had inspected and analyzed the problem of difficult enforcement and the work on deepening judicial reform of grass-root courts in the past year, which contributed to the courts' judicial development.
Zhou encouraged courts at various levels to learn from the past and make innovations in judicial work and offer a more considerate and sufficient platform through which advisory committee members can perform their duties.
He also stressed that China's courts have faithfully performed the duties conferred by the Constitution and laws and closely centered on the goal of "letting the people feel fairness and justice in each judicial case".
In addition, Zhou affirmed progress in resolving the problem of difficult enforcement in the past three years and said courts had strengthened enforcement in a well-rounded way and deepened enforcement mechanism reform and innovation, which gave the people a stronger sense of fulfillment.
Also present at the meeting were Lin Shucheng, vice-chairman of the Sichuan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference; Wang Shujiang, secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group of the Sichuan Provincial High People's Court;SPC staff and advisory delegates from some high courts.
