Luo Dongchuan, vice-president of the Supreme People's Court (SPC), underlined on Oct 21 that legal theory should be applied to building a community with a shared future for mankind.
The annual meeting of the International Economic Law Institute of the China Law Society was held in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, with nearly 200 experts and scholars at universities and scientific research centers in attendance.
At the meeting, Luo affirmed that building a community with a shared future for mankind is the shared goal in global development, particularly in aspects of human rights and the rule of law.
He suggested that the Law Institute should work on theories and provide a legal basis for the community with a shared future for mankind.
Research on international economic and trade laws with Chinese characteristics is also necessary to offer perspectives for new patterns of international order and economic globalization, Luo said.
Finally, Luo explained the judicial services and legal protections the SPC has performed under the Belt and Road Initiative.
Also present at the meeting were Ren Haiquan, vice-president of the China Law Society; Ren Luoli, executive deputy director of the Standing Committee of the Shenzhen Municipal People's Congress; Liu Hongyi, secretary of Party committee of Shenzhen University and Gao Xiaoli, deputy chief judge of the No 4 Civil Adjudication Tribunal.
