Jiang Bixin, vice-president of the Supreme People's Court (SPC), stressed promoting Fengqiao Town's mediation experience and improving the system of litigation-related letters and calls and litigation service at a seminar hosted by the SPC Third Circuit Court in Zhejiang province on Oct 16.
Since the 1960s, Fengqiao town, Zhejiang province, has enjoyed good public security via its local experience of solving disputes.
Most village committees and key enterprises in the town have set up mediation departments to help solve disputes efficiently. In addition, the local government also made efforts to promote legal publicity and education among its residents.
At the meeting, Jiang urged the attendees to learn from the Fengqiao government and pointed out that the system of litigation-related letters and calls and litigation service should be improved in the New Era to meet people's legal needs.
He said judicial departments should classify disputes and lawsuits to efficiently deal with complex affairs with evidential materials and expressed his hope that intelligent devices can be adopted into litigation system.
Meeting participants heard a report of the Third Circuit Court on litigation service since its establishment.
Also present at the meeting included deputies to the National People's Congress -- Wang Binmei, Ou Qi and Zhang Guoqiang -- and officials of the SPC Prosecution Court and the Third Circuit Court.
During the inspection in Zhejiang province, Jiang also visited the Shaoxing Intermediate Court, and talked about issues including difficulty of court order enforcement and cases on environmental resources.
