The Supreme People's Court (SPC) will make further efforts to crack down gangs and organized crimes by using rule of law, the court's President Zhou Qiang stressed at a conference on Oct 17 in Wuhan, Hubei province.
At the meeting, Zhou said SPC will carry on the spirits referred at an earlier promotion meeting for the national campaign against gang-related crimes and play a role in cracking down on such crimes through judicial trials and contribute to China’s social stability.
Guo Shengkun, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and head of the leading group of the national campaign against gangs-related crimes, attended the promotion meeting and mapped out measures to safeguard national security and social stability.
Guo said that increasing the number of judges and improving their judicial capacity could benefit the crackdown on crimes and provide the people with a sense of safety.
Guo urged bigger efforts to set up professional teams at all high courts and some intermediate courts to beef up investigation and trials to help boost judicial capabilities of judges.
In addition, a better and more comprehensive justice mechanism is necessary to fight against various modes of crimes and more legal publicity and education efforts will help raise people's awareness of law, he added.
