Zhou Qiang, chief justice and president of the Supreme People’s Court (SPC), met with a delegation led by Ho Iat Seng, president of the Legislative Assembly of Macao Special Administration Region on Oct 12 in Beijing.
Zhou said that Macao Legislative Assembly strictly adheres to the Constitution and basic laws and shares legislative experiences with the Chinese mainland, making great contribution to the region’s legal and economic development.
The central government encourages the comprehensive cooperation between the Chinese mainland and Macao. More cooperative opportunities have been created by the Belt and Road Initiative and the construction of Gugangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, said Zhou.
The SPC will shoulder its responsibilities and expend its cooperation and exchanges with Macao legislative departments to offer sound legal environment for the development of the Belt and Road Initiative and Gugangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
In addition, Zhou shared legal reform experiences, including judicial publicity and information construction with Ho.
Ho expressed his appreciation for Zhou’s hospitality. He spoke highly of the judicial reform of the Chinese mainland and said that the Legislative Assembly will play an active role in helping the development of the Belt and Road Initiative and Gugangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
