The head of China’s top court visited Vietnam by invitation from Sept 18 to 19 and met with high-level officials including Tran Dai Quang, president of Vietnam, Truong Hoa Binh, vice-president of Vietnam, and Nguyen Hoa Binh, chief judge of Vietnam’s top court.
Meeting with Truong Hoa Binh, Zhou said that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) attaches high importance to legal construction and China’s top court is willing to deepen exchanges and cooperation with Vietnam judicial authorities.
Truong said that in recent years, achievements have been made in Chinese legal construction, judicial reform and court informatization, adding that the Vietnamese side is willing to work with China to promote exchanges and cooperation in all fields.
Zhou and Truong reached consensus in many areas in the meeting including high-level reciprocal visits, exchanges and cooperation between judicial training institutions, judicial case study and information sharing.
Zhou said that China and Vietnam have maintained close judicial cooperation and exchanges and there are frequent high-level mutual visits. The Chinese side is willing to strengthen exchanges and share experience with Vietnam and work to bring the cooperation to a new level.
Giving video lectures to more than 860 students and more than 10,000 staff from 773 courts, Zhou outlined the achievements of China’s legal and smart court construction and judicial system reform.
In the first session of the thirteenth National People’s Congress, amendments to the Constitution were passed that emphasized the CCP’s leadership as the essential feature of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
Chinese courts are now working to seize the opportunity brought by development of informatization and strengthen smart court construction while promoting judicial system reform such as handling matters online, ensuring the whole process is in accordance with law and providing smart services so that people feel they are fairly treated in every case.
