Luo Dongchuan, vice-president of China’s Supreme People’s Court, met with Anna Joubin-Bret, secretary of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), on Sept 18 in Beijing.
Luo welcomed Joubin-Bret, saying that UNCITRAL plays an important role in safeguarding international trade order.
China, as a member state of UNCITRAL, complies with its obligations in adherence to international rules, resolving of international commercial disputes and preservation of international commercial trade order.
With the development of the Belt and Road Initiative construction, China has been working to strengthen top-level design such as setting up of an SPC international commercial court and international commercial expert committee so as to build a fair, just, open, inclusive, transparent and convenient international commercial resolution system, according to Luo.
Luo said he hopes that the SPC will strengthen exchanges and cooperation with UNCITRAL to promote liberalization of international trade investment.
Joubin-Bret expressed her gratitude for the visit and praised China’s efforts to solve international commercial disputes and said she will support construction of China’s international commercial court.
