Yang Wanming, vice-president of China’s top court, met with a delegation led by Teresa Cheng, Secretary for Justice of Hong Kong, in Beijing on Sept 14.
Yang welcomed Cheng, pointing out that through joint efforts by the two sides civil and commercial-related judicial assistance work has rapidly grown, bringing in fruitful results.
In the judicial field, the “one country, two systems” policy was implemented to promote the well-being of the people.
As of now, a high demand for judicial assistance has arisen in construction of the Belt and Road and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau greater bay area; at the same time, however, a broader platform will be needed.
Yang expressed his hopes that the two sides can go with the flow and work to promote the development of judicial assistance in Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland to ensure that judicial assistance is fully available in civil and commercial fields.
Yang also outlined the condition for providing judicial guarantees to Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau greater bay area construction and invited more people from the legal field to the Chinese mainland’s National Judge College.
Cheng expressed her gratitude to Yang for the visit and said that the two sides shared a vision for further exchanges and cooperation.
