The head of China’s top court addressed a forum on providing judicial service and guarantees for rural revitalization on Sept 4.
Zhou Qiang, president and chief justice of the Supreme People’s Court (SPC), said that it’s necessary to give full play to the judicial role of the courts and build a sound legal environment to implement the opinions of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council on rural revitalization.
Zhou pointed out the need for judicial strengthening of property protection and improvements to trial work related to agricultural financial cases to promote rural industrial prosperity.
It’s necessary to advocate socialist core values, properly handle all kinds of cases involving rural and neighborhood disputes and establish rules to foster social customs through fair judgment that help promote sound rural civilization and family tradition and improve urban social civilization, according to Zhou.
He also mentioned the need to strengthen legal oversight of environmental resources and hear rural resource-related civil, administrative and criminal cases with a focus on rural environmental governance to promote beautiful and livable rural construction.
Zhou added that it’s a must to strengthen judicial guarantees over people’s livelihoods and severely punish criminal offenses infringing on farmers’ personal and property rights to increase their sense of gain, happiness and security.
In the forum, the vice-president of the SPC outlined the draft of opinions on providing judicial service and guarantees to implement the rural revitalization strategy and listened to representatives’ views.
