At the new semester’s opening ceremony of the National Judges College the head of China’s top court pointed out that it’s necessary to improve judicial services for people and promote development of court work at all levels on Sept 4.
Zhou Qiang, chief justice and president of China’s Supreme People’s Court, said that it’s necessary to know clearly about new conditions and challenges faced by courts and work to heighten the sense of mission, responsibility and urgency.
He also pointed out the need to strengthen analysis and research on domestic and foreign economic situations so that courts can clearly position themselves and boost security and guarantees to ensure overall social stability, equity and justice.
It’s also necessary to meet public legal requirements and be people-oriented to ensure that livelihood-related cases are properly handled and protect people’s vital interests, according to Zhou.
Zhou also emphasized that cadres and court officials at all levels should perform their duties with the court’s overall mission in mind. That approach will foster public awareness and also lead to support for appropriate procedures.
In speaking of strengthening the ability to resolve disputes and contradictions, Zhou mentioned that it’s important to use a variety of legal methods such as diversified dispute resolution mechanisms and multi-level judicial proceedings.
Zhou also emphasized the need to strengthen education and training to support talents as they develop their judicial careers.
He added that we must combine theory and practice, optimize forms of education and training and enrich teaching methods. We must also reinforce cooperation between legal education research departments.
