The Supreme People’s Court recently unveiled opinions on providing judicial service and guarantees to deepen reform and opening-up in Hainan province.
The move aims to help turn the whole island into a pilot free trade zone and promote the establishment of a free trade port with Chinese characteristics.
It’s stipulated in the opinions that courts at all levels should hear cases in an efficient and just way, focus on key areas and work to provide judicial services and guarantees in building Hainan into a place of multiple identities. Judicial services should extend to deepening reform in pilot zones and furthering national ecological civilization; they should also be available to deal with any issues at international tourism consumer centers.
The opinions also emphasize that it’s required to strengthen trial enforcement work for promoting a legal, international and convenient commercial environment and a just, open and unified market environment.
They add that several kinds of trials, including criminal, administrative, civil and commercial and maritime, should be strengthened.
The opinions provide that it’s necessary to strengthen criminal trials and crack down on all kinds of criminal offenses that may influence the reform process.
It’s also required to strengthen maritime trials to further economic development and protect the ecological environment. In addition, stronger trial procedures help promote maritime power strategy and national rights and interests.
