China released a new book reviewing controversial and typical legal cases of 2017 on Jan 27 in Beijing.

The book, Ten Social Hot Issues in Legal Perspective, was published by the Beijing-based Publishing House of Local Records.

Xu Hui, a researcher of the Institute of Law, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, said the analysis in the book is interdisciplinary.

She said it is based on the research methods of social law history.

Chen Weidong, a law professor of Renmin University of China, said “each case in the book is typical” and that the book reflects modern social life in China.

It also reflects the changes and progress of the rule of law in the country, he added.

“The book covers ten issues, which indeed have aroused the attention of the public,” said Sun Yuan, a law professor of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences. “It not only collects views from all walks of life, but also states the opinions of the author.”

The book is professional, interesting and easy to read, Sun added.

“Scholars are concerned more about legal technical issues. Ordinary readers may be more concerned about their choices and corresponding risks,” he said.
