Zhou Qiang, chief justice and president of the Supreme People's Court (SPC), called for polling the wisdom and strength of all sectors of the community to promote justice for the people and fairness in judicial proceedings.
Special advisers to the SPC made speeches at the symposium.
Zhou listened to their speeches, saying that their suggestions will be carefully studied and absorbed into the draft.
Zhou said courts around the country must keep improving their work to better meet the demands of the people in the new era.
The special adviser system, according to Zhou, is an important way of promoting judicial democracy and a method of public supervision.
It is of significant importance to the building of China’s rule of law, he added.
