As of Dec 31, 2017, a Chinese website for trial information had broadcast live video streaming more than 560,000 times with up to 11.62 million visits each time, which greatly favors judicial openness.
The site -- Tingshen.court.gov.cn -- went online in Dec 2013 and has broadcasted a large numberof trials at district, municipal and provincial levels. The site quickly proved popular with society at large.
By the end of last year 3,314 courts, or 94 percent of their total number, were connected to the website.
The website is the fourth largest platform for judicial openness after China Judgment Online, China Judicial Process Information Online and Execution Information Online.
To demonstrate social values, the website works to increase its influence and attractiveness through a series of activities such as “Third party appraisals online”.
In this activity, 193 legal experts from China, the United States, Germany and Singapore acted as third parties in evaluating 164 civil, criminal and administrative cases delivered by 164 courts in 24 provinces, cities and districts. That participation helped promote the standards of trials at all levels.
In the future the website will focus on upgrading of open court trial platforms and connect with other open platforms to provide more smart and humanized services. The goal is tomeet people’s expectations regarding public awareness and supervision of judicial work.
