The fourth China-Europe Legal Forum was held in Beijing from Oct 15 to 16 with the theme of “Innovate risk prevention system to lead legal cooperation in Belt and Road Initiative”. Chinese and European legal experts and scholars attended the forum.
They shared opinions on four main topics including legal risks in cross-border transactions, civil action proceedings and principles, open digitized and fair markets and the influence of Brexit on Sino-European cross-border trade.
Chen Jiping, vice-chairman of the China Law Society, reviewed the history of exchanges between China and Europe and outlined China’s legal construction in recent years, the Belt and Road Initiative and G20 development results.
Chen suggested that China and Europe should construct the rule of international law, safeguard world peace and development to implement the fruitful results of G20 and promote the Belt and Road Initiative.
Emilio Prato, Councilor of the Embassy of Spain in China, emphasized the importance of legal exchanges between China and Europe and pointed out that the China-Europe Legal Forum provides a good platform to solve many legal problems such as those pertaining to intellectual property or arising from difficulties with cooperation in police affairs.
The forum was initiated by the China Law Society in 2013 with the aim of promoting Sino-European exchanges and cooperation in law and economy and providing legal protection for cooperation in various fields between China and Europe. Previous forums were held in Beijing in 2013, Vienna in 2014 and Rome in 2015.
The China-Europe Legal Research Center and the China-Europe Legal Training Base were founded at the opening ceremony of the forum.
