The vice head of China's top tribunal has called for deeper judicial media convergence and increased management innovation at a forum in Northeast China's Heilongjiang province.
Jing Hanchao, deputy president of the Supreme People's Court (SPC) of China, provided written remarks to a forum on SPC media convergence held in Yichun of Heilongjiang province on Aug 24.
Jing wrote that SPC media integration should be part of the implementation of the requirement made by Chinese President Xi Jinping.
President Xi presided over a symposium after touring China's three leading news providers in Beijing on Feb 19, 2016, in which he ordered news media run by the Communist Party of China and the Chinese government to strictly follow the Party's leadership and focus on "positive reporting".
In March of 2016, the People's Court Daily, under the authority of the State Commission Office of Public Sectors Reform, was renamed the People's Courts News and Communication Agency as a new drive to promote judicial publicity.
Jing emphasized that innovative content, especially of a positive nature, should take the lead in advancing judicial publicity.
When reporting on key issues, comprehensive channels -- including words, photos, infographics, cartoons, audio, video and H5, among others -- should be used to offer people inclusive ways to consume news content.
Media management should also be upgraded, wrote Jing, adding that bottlenecks must be broken and bold but steady solutions must be found.
