China will deepen judicial reform and promote self-improvement and development of its judicial system with Chinese features, according to a meeting held on July 8.
The leading judicial reform group of the Supreme People's Court (SPC) of China held their second plenary meeting in Beijing, promoting the goal of “letting people feel the justice and fairness in every judicial case”.
In the first half of the year, the SPC introduced 11 judicial reforms and approved 12 pilot reforms.
However, some deep-rooted problems and new situations should receive high attention, said Zhou Qiang, president of the SPC.
Zhou called for improving appointment procedures and upgrading the jury system with Chinese characteristics.
Throughout the meeting, Zhou emphasized that the pace of court reform should keep up with the times, always making new progress.
