The National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) held a news conference on Friday, one day ahead of the opening of its annual session. 

Guo Weimin, spokesperson of the first session of the 14th CPPCC National Committee, briefed journalists on the session and took questions.

Here are some highlights:

- The session will open at 3 pm Saturday and close on March 11

The 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference will open its first session on Saturday at 3 pm at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. 

- Around 30,000 proposals submitted by CPPCC members in 5 years

Members of the CPPCC National Committe have submitted about 29,000 proposals in the past five years on various topics and many of them have promoted the decision making of the government.

- China to roll out policies to support and boost employment market

With the optimization and adjustment of epidemic prevention policies and further implementation of various measures to stabilize the economy, the Chinese economy will continue to recover and provide solid support in stabilizing employment. 

- China's economy remains resilient with potential, vigor

Members of the CPPCC National Committee believe that the country's economy remains resilient and is full of potential and vigor.

- Production, social life speed up returning to normal in China

China has pulled through the current round of COVID-19 outbreak with production and social life accelerating the pace of returning to normal.

- BRI 'debt trap' claims merely smears

Claims about "debt traps" linked to the Belt and Road Initiative are groundless smears, and will not stop the initiative from going forward.

China will take concrete measures to promote opening up and continue to provide new opportunities and drivers for global development.

- China needs to consolidate foundation of digital economy development

China needs to consolidate the foundation of the development of digital economy and boost the integration of digital economy and manufacturing.

CPPCC National Committee will further promote exchanges with people from all walks of life in Taiwan to jointly promote the "peaceful and integrated development" of cross-Straits relations.
