The Supreme Tribunal of Justice of Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela: Innovative, Efficient Mechanism Urgently Needed for Sound Cyberspace

Maikel José Moreno Pérez, magistrate president of the Supreme Tribunal of Justice of Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela shared his view on cyberspace governance at the World Forum on Rule of Law in the Internet on Dec 5 in Wuzhen, East China's Zhejiang province. He said that new technologies and regulations on technology are needed as innovative technologies like the digital economy, the internet of things, big data, artificial intelligence and block chains are created. Intellectual property rights infringement, identity theft, money laundering and malicious software as well as cyber terrorism have brought challenges to global security. Therefore, a proper, innovative and efficient mechanism is urgently needed to prevent and investigate illegal actions in cyberspace and protect victims. He also outlined the importance of improving engagement of international institutes, updating records of criminal acts and making clear regulations pertaining to information technological crimes that are applicable to different countries.
