SPC vice president meets with LESI president

Luo Dongchuan, vice-president of the Supreme People's Court (SPC) and head of the SPC’s Intellectual Property Court, met with a delegation from the Licensing Executives Society International (LESI) led by Fiona Nicholson, LESI’s president, on Nov 22.

While introducing the Intellectual Property Court to the guests, Luo said that the establishment of the court demonstrates China's determination and confidence in strengthening intellectual property (IP) protection, which is of significance to further unification of trial standards, improvement of the quality and efficiency of trials, elevation of judicial credibility among the public and increasing the influence of hearings of IP cases in China.

He said he expects the two sides to enhance communication and share their experience and wisdom on IP protection with each other.

Nicholson applauded the effort made by Chinese courts to protect IP, saying that the establishment of the Intellectual Property Court has drawn much international attention.

She said she hopes the two sides will strengthen cooperation and join hands to contribute to the development of IP protection for the world.
