China’s top court head meets with president of International Court of Justice
Zhou Qiang (R), chief justice and president of the Supreme People’s Court of China, met with Abdulqawi Ahmed Yusuf, president of the International Court of Justice on July 29 in Beijing. |
The meeting will strengthen the two courts' friendship and bring more productive cooperation and exchanges, said Zhou.
Zhou said he hopes that the SPC will further practical cooperation with the ICJ in exchanges, information sharing and other areas to tackle the two sides’ common challenges, boost the development of international law, and improve the international rule of law.
Yusuf gave Zhou an enthusiastic response, expressing his willingness to strengthen cooperation with the SPC to improve international law.
The ICJ delegation, led by Yusuf, learned from Zhou about China's judicial reform, construction of smart courts, and judicial publicity.
Yusuf affirmed China's rule of law construction and was impressed by a judicial system that is more and more open and public. He said the hopes that China will share its good practices with others and benefit more countries.
